The Mosuo people are one of the few matriarchal societies left. It is interesting to see how the dynamics of the relationships they have with the opposite sex differ from those in most patriarchal societies. In their society sex is practiced freely and to them, what we consider to be a normal marriage is heresy. Another interesting point brought up in the article is that in their language there is no word for rape, and it is not due to the fact that it does not exist (it's just not as common).
