So what do the experts say about what we are doing - and could or should do - when we are raising our sons and daughters? How are we socializing them into "doing gender"?
One issue that has really hit home is to try to limit the time your son (rarely daughter) plays video games. It has shown that too much time invested in playing video games can substantially impact their academic performance.
There are other equally important factors that can influence the parents way of modeling their ideal sons/daughters, but I should probably save one for the circle.
Experts say that when raising children, parents tend to tell their children what is acceptable for males and females. This alone is already instilling gender roles into the child. It is bad enough that children have to face society and be molded through their eyes, but when the parents give their input instead of simply allowing the child to grow in their own way, then they are automatically socializing them into doing gender.
We socializing them into "doing gender" through the aspect of culture and society by deucational, religious, political, and economic institutions. However, sex differences appear on the first day of life of a female/male newborn baby.
